Object of the Day - Wedgwood Tea Set

On Saturday, while flea marketing at the Antiques Garage and Annex on 26th, I found several pieces of Wedgwood china in one of my favorite patterns, called Edme. I love its simple ribbed edge, as well as its color, a beautiful creamy white. Earlier this summer, while antiquing in Pennsylvania, I'd found a platter in the same pattern, so I was anxious to add to the collection. The tea set I think is especially pretty.

This set can be either formal or informal, and I intend to use mine all year long. Suddenly fall, and the cooler weather, doesn't seem so bad anymore now that I have such a beautiful set for my favorite tea, Harrod's Earl Grey No. 42. In addition to the tea set, I found two cups, seven saucers, one 13" platter, four dinner plates, five salad plates, five luncheon plates and five bread and butter plates. The markings on each piece are varied, so it looks as though there's a mix of new and old. And isn't that how the most interesting tables (and rooms!) are created anyway?

I have just got my hands on the Top Design Season 2 tapings and discovered you :)

Been trawling through your blog since last night at 12am! I'm so pleased to have read THIS entry though because I have a Wedgwood vase in this pattern but never knew the name! Mine must be an older version because it doesn't have the name style printed under the Wedgwood stamp and the stamp on mine looks rather older than yours.

I'd also love love love to hear how you clean just bought silverware, how you keep them clean and in particular, would love to read a blog entry how you store EVERYTHING you perpetually collect!!!

oh this is absolutely beautiful! you may have inspired me to start a china collection - the thought of collecting something has always been very appealing (the hunt, the bargaining, the satisfaction of watching a collection grow) and this may be just the thing. great blog! i just spent the past hour or so going through all of your posts - very good ideas, it's opening my eyes up to the little things that can add a touch of elegance :)
