There's a great spread of my little Hell's Kitchen apartment in Domino this month.
It's all about two of Jaithan's and my favorite things—decorating and entertaining! And just in time for the holidays too. The black and white etchings are from the flea market here in town. My friend Steve McKenzie from Larson-Juhl did such an amazing job framing them, don't you think? The early American pressed glass pitcher I found at Braswell's in Connecticut, but ebay has great ones just like it!
Check out the old pharmaceutical cabinet I found with my grandfather! I think it's the perfect place for all the ironstone platters I've collected ever since my catering days back in high school. Most of the coin silver serving spoons I found at flea markets and thrift shops, then used ebay to fill out my collection. On the mantle, I used creative candles in antique wooden candlesticks from a junk shop in Delaware.
And finally, do you remember that Chippendale-style secretary I made over a while back? I swapped out the glass for mirror, then gave it a fresh coat of paint. Now it keeps all my stationery, envelopes and cards, many of them in antique toast racks, neat and tidy.

this is too cool! I have to say you are one of my new design heros. To be featured in DOMINO???!!!....swoon. swoon times a billion. :)

The Manhattan MLS listings just got better with few companies now offering comprehensive apartment and real estate search such as halstead . VOWNYC.com Prudential condo domain and more.

Congrats, Eddie, on the great story in Domino! Your home is lovely and I appreciate all of your fantastic party planning ideas.

Eddie - I'll get my mother to buy the issue and send over to me - we still can't get Domino in Ireland - which drives me crazy. Wishing I could watch Top Design but rooting for you all the way!
Best of luck with everything - Lisa

Looking wonderful -- so charming! Can't wait for my issue too! LOVE the elegant bar set-up! Very very "Thin Man" (one of my fav movie series!) All you need is William Powell in his tux mixing the drinks -- and Myrna Loy to pass around the treats! LOL!

Eddie-
Just wanted to say I LOVE your blog! I love you on Top Design...my husband and I are routing for you all the way. I just added your blog to my "favorite blogs" on my site.
Good luck with the show!

Eddie, love your blog - read it religiously, but I have to tell you, you spell 'stationery' with an 'e', not an 'a'. I've noticed you have misspelt it a number of times and as a stationery designer I can't help but notice it! Hope this tip makes you even more fabulous than you are.

hey, congrats, eddie!

Beautiful - can't wait for the mag. to come out, I checked Barnes and Noble today!!! What I love about your work is that not only is it beautiful and a delight to look at, but I feel that I learn something and am inspired- inspired to view items from new perspectives. Thank you Eddie!

I'm a big fan, Eddie. But I was as appalled as Margaret R. on last night's TD when you described your $40,000 Swarovski as a "rectangular disco ball". LOL
Posted by: lance | October 23, 2008 at 03:27 PM
Rock on.
I have a settee pulled up to our table. I love it and it makes romantic meals more intimate.

I'm going to stalk my mailbox till it comes...I can't wait!!
Posted by: LindsB | October 23, 2008 at 02:14 PM
So fun to see the great pics of your apartment. Now I need my Domino! I disagreed with the judges on TD last night. What were they thinking? Loving your blog...
Posted by: Mary | October 23, 2008 at 01:57 PM
WHEN is my Domino magazine coming?! I can't wait to get this issue!! Eeks! I wish you lived next door so I could pick your brain on our living room. :)
Posted by: HollowSquirrel | October 23, 2008 at 01:44 PM
Hi Eddie!
Wow, you are on a ROLL my friend! Now if I could just convince Domino that I need my issue EARLY!
(Psst...my restaurant is posted!)
Posted by: katiedid | October 23, 2008 at 01:07 PM
awesome....so excited to get my mag so I can read all your tips! btw, I thought that your room was STUNNING on top design. I have been searching for a similar style couch for my dining room and may have to check out Martha's stuff!! (can't believe that they were so surprised by the concept...don't they read decor mags?!) anyhoo, love you and can't wait for more blog posts and next weeks ep!

How fantastic and well deserved. Congratulations!! I have drooled over your fabulous ideas for the past few weeks. I am a teacher and had my students make your spider webs. They LOVED it! Thanks for the inspiration and fun!!

Eddie Ross, I think you're fabulous!
Posted by: Campbell | October 23, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Eddie,
Great room, I am wondering how you made the moss filled bowls. When I have tried in the past they looked sloppy. Congradulations on the magazine. g
Posted by: gina | October 23, 2008 at 11:53 AM
You are just too good for Domino. You need your own magazine or something.
Posted by: Patricia | October 23, 2008 at 10:55 AM
I could move in right now, evrything is perfect and elegant, while still cozy. I hope Domino is in my mailbox!
Posted by: Karena | October 23, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Love the pics of your apartment! I am STILL waiting for my issue of Domino..seems like it is late in the mail!!!
OMG! India Hicks!! WHAT is she thinking?? Has she never seen a sofa or banquette on one side of a dining table?? DAHHHAH..I think the judges are letting their exposure on National TV get to their heads a bit. You and the other contestants are the true stars of this show..It is really starting to bug me that those judges are literally dictating what is right or wrong in design...I thought..there were no rules! I too thought the judges were way too harsh..Everyone has to start somewhere!

Congrats Eddie! You must be having a blast. Love the vignettes of your home. Looking forward to seeing all your entertaining tips!

Good morning. What a fantastic and fun episode of Top Design last night! Never heard of a sofa being pulled up to
a table? That is a classic way of adding interesting seating.
I loved it!
Just saw the new Nov. Domino....Wow! You look handsome
and dashing as ever. What a great story with fabulous photos
that really captured your taste and style.
Perfect! As always.
XOXO

Your apartment looks fabulous! It is so heartening to see that antiques are still "in". Besides that, they are a better investment than IKEA - hahaha! You have a wonderful eye and I am definitely rooting for you on TP - you are the best!
Posted by: Nancy | October 23, 2008 at 08:08 AM
oh! my favorite top designer in my favorite design magazine.
you've got mad style, i know you've got a wicked sense of humor that you try to contain on the show and you live in the one of the remaining neighborhoods that are still cool (imo) in NY.
so if i bum rush you at the flea market or on some NYC street, you'll know it's from admiration and not some crazed TV fan. (=

One word - gorgeous! Your home is beautiful and as usual, you have great tips for entertaining. And congrats on being featured, that's got to feel good!
