I'm always on the lookout for good place cards, especially around this time of year. They add such a personal touch to any table setting, but the problem is, the best ones are usually so expensive!

Looking back on ric rac pumpkins, where I cut out a pumpkin leaf from
gray cardstock for a little flourish on the mantel, I thought—why not
make an easy, super inexpensive autumn leaf place card for a
Thanksgiving table setting as well? After the propping party and dinner at Austin's last Sunday, the least I could do is return the favor!

For the leaf shapes, I started off by doing a quick image search for "pumpkin leaf." Then I folded a piece of cardstock in half, drew the shape freehand and cut it out with a scissors. Oak and maple leaf shapes would be great too for Thanksgiving. If templates are more your thing, find good ones here.

To stand them upright, all I did was cut out another piece of cardstock, fold it as pictured and glue it to the back. Works just like a picture frame! And such an easy project for kids too! That way, they can feel like they're party of setting the table for Thanksgiving as well.

For this table, I decided to keep the palette neutral. The tablecloth is antique homespun linen from a tag sale up in Maine. The plates are the same pattern as the Wedgwood tea set I found at the Antiques Garage on 26th. The soup tureen was my grandmother Dottie's. The bone handle knives and turned wood candlesticks are from the flea market here in town. Speaking of, I'm so excited for the first official shopping trip this Sunday! If you didn't get a chance to sign up, no worries—more dates to come, especially for all that holiday gift giving. Have a great weekend, everyone, and happy crafting!
