Hey, y'all! We've only been down here in N'awlins for a few days, but I'm already talkin' like the locals! Maybe that's because Jaithan and I have been meeting so many of them at the show, hearing all their great stories, and getting the inside scoop on this incredible city. Thank you, by the way, for all your recommendations! I just wish we had more time down here! There's definitely lots to report but will have to wait until we're back in New York. In the meantime, I have two great posts for you to check out. The first is on Apartment Therapy from our new friend and fellow flea market fanatic Laure Joliet. It's all about the shopping trip we did at the Rose Bowl, and all the great stuff we found!
Next, check out Simply Seleta for the full recap on her and Peter's visit to the farm last weekend. What a great time we had together!
Just keep in mind that after six weeks in the house, and all
the traveling we've been doing, it's definitely still a work in
progress! See you on Wednesday!

Hope you had an amazing trip...hopefully a few of your finds will make it to etsy!

Hey Eddie - Got a puzzler for you! I've been saying to myself, "Need a cake stand...need a cake stand...need a cake stand..." for the last few weeks and voila! What should appear next to the dumpster but a silver(ish) cake stand in the PERFECT proportions to what I wanted!
Now. Here's the rub. It's tarnished. I can't tell if it's actually silver or if it's silver plated or if it's some fakey silver (nickle, etc). I turned it over and I don't see a stamp or anything indicating that it might be sterling.
So here's the question... How do I figure out if it's silver? If it is, I'll just polish that baby up! If it's not, I'd like to give it some new life with a bit of enameled spray paint. I just don't want to paint true silver!!
Any ideas? I figured you'd be the go-to guy since you are a Rummage-Sale Magician :)

Eddie, I have a photo of you and me taken at the Superdome in New Orleans. How can I get it to you? It was great to meet you and please come back to New Orleans to do a flea market/pub crawl!

Hi Eddie -- This is Allen Paiva. I'm the floral designer at Michael's in Poughkeepsie -- we met while you were buying sparkly stuff for some no-doubt fab project. Just wanted to say what a kick it was to meet you in person, after having enjoyed your wit and humor on Top Design (I was rooting for you!)
My housemate, Mary Ann Glass, insists that I send to you her website -- she's a photographer who works with some of the local designers in the area and she's owns a gallery in Beacon, RiverWinds Gallery. She would love to have you stop by sometime and see what artists from the region are painting/crafting.
And we both want to know how you decided on Poughkeepsie!
Stop by the next time you need stuff at Michaels.
regards/allen

You were close(New Orleans)but not close enough to explore the absolutely fabulous Spring Antique Show here in Texas. I did a very long post on it and I couldn't wait to share it with you. I hope one day you can come I can hook you up. Have a great day. Heidi

Some people want to go to Paris or on African safari; I want to go to a great flea market like the Rose Bowl. Now, if that flea market was in Paris - there'd be no complaints! Hey, thanks for pointing me to Seleta's blog! I like it!
