Jaithan and I are on the road shopping with readers, and although we have two recap posts on Kane County and Scott’s still to come, I do want to tell you about a series of super fun workshops I’m doing in Kansas City in July. Candles, as we all know well, are such an important part of entertaining, so whenever I’m setting the table, I reach for these. Their burn time is longer than any other candles out there with a fantastic assortment of beautiful colors. Do you remember the petal pink celebration candles on the carnation cake?
Or the elegant white tapers on the fireplace mantle in our New York apartment?
Of course, another key component on the table is flowers. Is it country casual you're going for?
Problem is, putting it all together to create a beautiful, memorable table—candles and flowers, along with china, silver, linens and glass—isn’t always easy. There are a lot of factors to consider, some less obvious than others. That’s why I’ve teamed up with my friends Pam Fleisher and Ken Weiner at Creative Candles for three fun, informative workshops on how to use flowers and candles to set the perfect table. We’ll also be having a catered lunch together, as well as a tour of the Creative Candles factory. Admission is $100 and limited to 20 guests per day. One of the days is sold out, thanks both to the Kansas City Star and to the enchanting Mrs. Blandings, who’ll also be covering the workshops for SPACES magazine. (Look for her fabulous feature on Kansas City in next month's Elle Decor!) There are, however, a few spots left on Thursday and Friday, July 16th and 17th, from 11am – 1pm in case any of you would like to join us. For reservations, email Pam at Creative Candles or call 816.474.9711 ext. 205. For those of you in far and distant places from Kansas City, rest assured that Jaithan and I will be blogging all about the trip upon our return. And so even though the workshops are still weeks away, in the words of Mrs. Blandings, cow town, here we come!

I can't wait for the workshop! I'm a wedding designer/blogger in KC - it will be so fun!

Oh, I'm jealous! I'm from Kansas City, but am now "stuck" in Texas - ha! If you've never been there before, be sure to see The Plaza and take a drive down Ward Parkway!
