It seems Apartment Therapy, my competitor/vote tabulator/email collector, has taken the gloves off. Check out this post from last night.
Isn't it odd how I'm the one singled out? It's been a true honor to represent ELLE DECOR, but when I signed up for this gig, I thought it was going to be a fair contest of design talent, hosted and judged by an independent party. Far from it. This is about power. Numbers. Unique Visitors. Jaithan and I certainly don't have the readership that Apartment Therapy has to cast the net so widely. But you know what? Collectively—between you and your readers—we do! If you liked my design for the window—if you believe in the future of magazines like ELLE DECOR to delight and inspire us always—help me take on the Big Guy by posting once, twice, three times this week to vote! It doesn't matter if you have 10 readers (we've all been there, haven't we?) or 10,000, spread the word to your readers, your friends, your family to vote...vote...VOTE! Everyday this week, log in here, cast your vote for ELLE DECOR, then text 1 to 89800 to vote again! Thank you so much, everyone! Together, let's stand up and make a point!

After all of the above is said and done, the bottom line is that yours is the best window of all! I posted about you and your window and think it all great fun! I loved reading about how it all came together and those who helped and supported you along the way. I am a color girl and absolutely love the vibrant life of this room!! Crossing my fingers for you in Texas at 10:36 Thursday night!

Eddie, I am pulling for you! I blogged about your window, sent my readers to vote, and voted everyday. I hope you win! You are such a talent.

Neither window is great. But stop whining like girl. Everyone wants to win. Thats y they entered. Duh!
Posted by: James | January 26, 2010 at 08:08 PM
Your window is (no surprise) my favorite. I love your attention to detail and ability to mix patterns/colors so beautifully. I'm voting for you!
Posted by: Suzanne | January 26, 2010 at 07:15 PM
Eddie, would you please consider a post on how you chose/mixed the pillows in this fabulous window? You have animal print/toile/small scale print/large scale print and you mix colors like fuschia with red and orange with ease. It looks fabulous but I can't seem to get this look right in my own home. I have white canvas upholstry chairs just begging for pillows like these. We could all benefit from your expertise here. Thanks so much!

I've voted for you! Great work!

Your room is my favorite, Eddie! And I did a short post on my blog last week supporting your window! I'm cheering for you!

Beautiful window! I know this is an interior design blog, but can anyone tell me who makes the buff colored handbag sitting on the pink chair?
thank you!
Posted by: MissA | January 26, 2010 at 11:57 AM
thanks for letting me know about the contest...your window is great...I placed my vote...good luck!!
Posted by: stacy di | January 26, 2010 at 11:42 AM
You have the best window. No question. Absolutely stunning. No detail overlooked. You are truly talented! Just spectacular.
Posted by: Megan | January 26, 2010 at 10:48 AM
I can't figure out the website. Do i have to sign up with Apartment Therapy to vote for you>
Posted by: Kathleen Luckard | January 26, 2010 at 10:15 AM
Tsk tsk. Why are you complaining? You're in the lead. Calling your competitor a BULLY smacks of childishness. And you go on and whine about how much larger the AT audience is...and yet, you still have more votes. So what's the problem, Mr. Ross?
Posted by: RJ | January 26, 2010 at 03:52 AM
Waaahhhh, I wanna win and someone else does too!
Posted by: Skitzo Leezra Studio | January 26, 2010 at 01:04 AM
what to add to this conversation?
just throwing in my voice to say, you have had my votes, not just because i love you guys, but your talent and window outshines all others.
i have blogged about this and everyone i read has done the same. you are in good hands my friends....the blogging community adores you both

Loved your window Eddie! Even if you don't win, we all know it was the best.
Posted by: Suzy | January 25, 2010 at 10:28 PM
I like your blog a lot, but when I read that he had "taken the gloves off," it was a little anti-climatic to see that he was basically just asking for votes. Of course he circled the winner. He's ahead of the third person.
That said, I do think it's a little odd that they are hosting the competition, but I don't think it's unethical or that they are cheating.
Posted by: Fiona | January 25, 2010 at 10:10 PM
lol I quit reading AT about 3 years ago. Accent walls! Accent walls! Kudos to former kindergarten teacher Max for his industriousness, but he's no designer.
Posted by: Amy | January 25, 2010 at 10:02 PM
Your design ROCKS!
YOU MUST WIN!
Posted by: kim | January 25, 2010 at 09:58 PM
I like seeing these close up photos. The cherry blossoms really do look lovely reflected in the table top.
I'll be sure to vote for this reminder of spring in Washington, DC. It can't come too soon.

I have to say I have been a fan of you, your blog and your work. I cheered you on with your specials over the holidays and wanted to spotlight you on my blog. But, I am disappointed with this post. I talked with Maxwell about his window this past week while he was here in town for ALT. He only mentioned it after a long conversation and really seemed very humble about it in the first place after it came up in conversation. I will vote for the best design. I also don't think AT is doing anything at all to be unfair to you or to the Bloomingdales window. Too bad you had to write this post.
Posted by: April | January 25, 2010 at 09:41 PM
I am a very new blog (like a week old) but I've been reading design blogs for a while and love yours. I just posted about the contest on mine and hope it helps! Although, looks like you are way ahead. Well deserved.
Posted by: Susie @ Maddie's Nest | January 25, 2010 at 08:24 PM
I quit reading Apartment Therapy a long time ago, it doesn't even come close the level of your blog.
Posted by: meridith moore | January 25, 2010 at 08:16 PM
Just be careful who you push. Keep the competition friendly or it could get really ugly around here!
Posted by: christina | January 25, 2010 at 07:45 PM
Something is definitely fishy at Apartment Therapy. I've tried to log in twice today to vote for you and each time I simply get a screen that says "Thank you for voting." I'll try again later so I can vote for you again but it seems odd that suddenly I've "voted" today when I actually haven't! (I wonder who I "voted" for!)
Posted by: Ric Shaffran | January 25, 2010 at 07:34 PM
I've been voting twice a day, ER!! and will do until it is over...Very happy for you and proud of you...most certainly, you deserve the win!

Hi Eddie...I was so Happy to see you stopped by My Farmhouse Kitchen....and YES ! you can count me in. I love your window and am off to vote and spread the word...You're THE BEST Eddie...I love all you do.....

I'm not entirely sure I understand the fuss. Maxwell is allowed to promote this contest, which is not only a showcase for him, but for you, ELLE DECOR, Eileen, and Bloomingdale's. Were it not *for* Maxwell, AT and the success of last year's contest, you wouldn't have this (considerable) showcase for your talents.
He singled you out because you were in the lead.
Actually, Maxwell has used considerable restraint on leveraging his blog to promote the contest. Considerably more restraint than seems to be the case here.
And give me a break about how you were shocked that this is about hits and audience reach. You sell advertising on this very blog, no? What are your rates based on?
Posted by: patrick (the other one) | January 25, 2010 at 05:55 PM
Okay Eddie, I have to tell you I have NEVER voted in my life for anything like this! But you did such an amazing job and I don't like when people play dirty, so I made sure I texted a vote for you! I wasn't even sure how to do it but I got a text back stating "thank you for your vote!" Best of Luck, may the best man (that's you) win!!!!

I'm over it all. Grow up people. It's a window .... honestly.

I love to read Apartment Therapy! I got on their website, registered and voted- for you! I am sure I am not the only Apartment Therapy reader who jumped the fence, either. Your window is wordly, chic and fun! :)
Posted by: Teri | January 25, 2010 at 04:12 PM
I just voted! I like your window the best because it looks lived in!
Posted by: Laura | January 25, 2010 at 04:11 PM
Oh for goodness sake... talk about a conflict of interest AT. You will win on pure talent alone Eddie, dirty AT tactics aside. A-M xx

I'll be tweeting again & voting every day!!! Go Eddie!
Posted by: Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality | January 25, 2010 at 03:51 PM
Just checked out all windows since Cote de Texas clued me in! Of course, YOUR'S ROCKS!! So...I voted TWICE!! Yeah!
Posted by: Debe | January 25, 2010 at 03:43 PM
Sure they have a lot of readers but will they like the AT design better? Will they care enough to vote? I usually don't vote on these things but since the gloves were off (and I CARED!), I did!! Here's to you and Jaithan!!
Posted by: Scarlett | January 25, 2010 at 01:50 PM
WHY are you doing this Eddie...you are way ahead. And what is so offensive about AT post? You have been asking people to vote for you before their lost recent port. I voted for your window b/c I thought it was the best. I won a a decor contest a few years ago and never asked anyone to vote for me. And the total number of votes here is not very high at all. People are busy with their lives and work and kids etc. Be proud you are even in a window such as Bloomingdale's. WHAT AN HONOR. and rise above the pettiness.

Thought it was a bit curious that AT was doing double duty as a designer and voting place... Every time I vote though, you still have the lead!
I just posted a link in my sidebar, but used the image of those awesome brass flowers and the bar. My readers are more food/drink that design. Oh, and stretched it a bit with "friend" part - but think it is a bit more persuasive that way!
Good luck!!
Posted by: Caitlin | January 25, 2010 at 01:38 PM
I checked back this morning and saw you're starting to gain more of a lead and could not be more excited for you! I heart AT obviously but it does seem weird they are hosting the competition and competing but it clearly isn't affecting the outcome and it's very refreshing to see the best designed window winning! I'm new to the shelter blog world but I did post about the competition today and will continue to vote! One vote at a time right!! Good luck!
Posted by: Laurie Jones | January 25, 2010 at 01:33 PM
Here Here to all of the above!!
We're with you all the way.
Who ever said Life was fair...but you will prevail and all this transparency on Maxwell's part will live on in peoples memories.
I will be out there like Miss Barbara rocking the vote with my people!!
XO

OH man, the gloves ARE off. STILL VOTING STRONG!!
Posted by: lauren (pen.ny) | January 25, 2010 at 01:08 PM
Eddie, I was going to vote for you just because I like you so much. But once I took a look, I really did like yours the best!
Posted by: Kelli | January 25, 2010 at 01:07 PM
I NEVER vote for these contests, but AT just took it to another level. I just voted twice and will continue to vote daily (and encourage all my friends to do so also) until the end of the contest.
P.S. Your window is the best anyway! Wow, envy is an ugly emotion.
Posted by: Allyson | January 25, 2010 at 01:00 PM
Eddie, I must say that I love both you and AT, you both provide such great inspiration. And I did find out about the contest first through AT...BUT, when I visited the voting page and looked at all three rooms I voted for the one I thought was the best and the one I would have loved to have in my own home and that one happened to be YOURS!!!! It's absolutely beautiful! I love all the pops of color and the mix of modern and traditional! Your window deserves to win in my eyes! And I think a lot of other AT readers will do the same as me and vote for who they think is the best and not just who sends out an email asking for votes! Way to go, and I'm off to vote again!
Posted by: Bridget | January 25, 2010 at 12:49 PM
Controversy is good news and gets the blood flowing! Otherwise what a dull world it would be. I do like your window the best because it has such texture and interest. However, the bust on the pedestal is iffy, only my opinion.
Posted by: cj | January 25, 2010 at 12:34 PM
Hi Eddie! I voted AND I blogged about it. My net is rather tiny, but nevertheless, it is cast.
Good luck!
Posted by: Amanda | January 25, 2010 at 12:33 PM
AT sucks for doing this.
Since they host the contest, they shouldn't even be in the competition. It's a huge conflict of interest.
But bloggers rule! And we heart Eddie & Jaithan!
Let's get Eddie to the win!!!
xo xo

We are so happy to help spread the word {and are thrilled you like Merci! Thanks so much for your returned support!}

i am an avid reader of apartment therapy and learned of this contest through their site. however, i was BLOWN away by your design. it's classic, contemporary, unique, retrained, luxe, without having that "i'm cooler than thou" design vibe you see so often now. it truly fits the lifestyle of the "woman" you designed it for. bravo to you. i'm not a design professional, but i am a real woman and LOVE your window. you've got my vote.
Posted by: leslie | January 25, 2010 at 11:47 AM
Consider it done...I've posted and voted (happily again)! Best wishes!
Posted by: Jenn | January 25, 2010 at 11:42 AM
Hi Eddie and Jaithan,
You've been getting my vote(s) and I posted a link. I loved the framing job with the deckled edges, that's a fun print. I note you'll be in Richmond in Feb. I hope to make it down to that home show.
Posted by: Pat's Addition | January 25, 2010 at 11:39 AM
I haven't let up voting since day one of the contest. Every day I have voted both online and by text for my favourite window (yes, of course yours, Eddie & Jaithan)!! I have also retweeted your reminders to vote, and if all your readers keep it up, you'll come out as the challenge winner in the end.
If anything, Maxwell's underhanded actions will cost him dearly in the end.
Posted by: Pam | January 25, 2010 at 11:32 AM
Eddie & Jaithan, Unfortunate that people feel the need to resort to such nasty measures, I have voted religiously, not just for the spirit of competition, but because you are BOTH talented and deserve every reward for all your hard work and sincere, thoughtful, honest personalities! All the best, love & hugs!! Amy
Posted by: Amy | January 25, 2010 at 11:21 AM
Uggg.... that's sketchy..... we're voting away over at the complete prep blog.... and most of my readers like your window best, so it's not just about my recommendation!

Store policy for the next 3 days: If you want to purchase something at Daisy's you must text 89800, mssg 1 before you pay.
By the way, can I just say "I was right" (wow that felt good). I told Terri when this thing started and I read the fine print, he was going to pull something. First it was posting the thumbnail prints. He can't seem to accept the fact that a writers livingroom would have bookcases with real books and not painted ones along with the fact that no writer would that loved dark and brown would pick orange flower wallpaper. That is why people aren't voting for him. Did I also mention that the writer would have had some antique dishes instead of off the shelf? Sorry to be so cranky but I knew he was going to pull something at any turn. This won't be his final trick either.

Hear Hear to this post. I was wondering how this was truly going to be a "fair" competition when it is really about "how many people one knows" dictates the winner. I think it deplorable that the AT designer as prostituted himself to beg for votes. Does he not feel strong about his design standing on its own? Truly, I think people are going to the page and are SIMPLY FINDING THAT THEY LIKE your design EDDIE more than the "other 2." I am thinking there will be some panties in a wad, soon! I HOPE YOU SMASH the Designed WINDOW Competition. You window for me personally...was the stand out!

For what its worth, I read AT also....but yours is actually BETTER! So, honestly, don't worry, AT is giving their readers some Eddie Ross "air time". Look at it that way.
