If you're in or around New York and looking for a reason to round up your friends for a weekend full of fun, adventure and design inspiration, I've got two: First, on Saturday, April 24th, at noon, we're throwing a dazzling springtime table setting party at Gracious Home in Chelsea. For those of you unfamiliar with it, Gracious Home started as a neighborhood hardware store on the Upper East Side with superior service. Today, there are three locations, carrying some of the best china, linens, decorative hardware and appliances anywhere in the city.
Now that spring is here and with it, a fresh, new season for entertaining, I'm teaming up with Creative Candles for an afternoon of wine, food, beauty and inspiration. Starting with a cheerful Mother's Day table I designed for Serendipity magazine with plenty of beautiful, old milk glass from our Etsy shop, I'll take you through a full year of how to decorate and entertain with candles!
From birthdays to holidays, formal dinners to casual get-togethers, I'll show you easy, inexpensive and elegant ways to create memorable occasions. The event is free and open to the public but with limited space. This is Chelsea, after all, not too far from another place I love in New York—the flea market! On Sunday, the 25th, Jaithan and I will be leading another great group of readers through my favorite flea markets. Admission is $50 with about five spots left.
So mark your calendars for the table setting party at Gracious Home on Saturday the 24th and the flea market on the 25th, then email Jaithan for reservations (jaithan@eddieross.com). See you in the city, everyone!
It all looks so wonderful. Spring time in the city is the best! I would love to make one of these events!

Help! First, nice picks at the flea market! Second, I am doing some work on a National Conference. I am trying to think of a large (at least tall) vertical element (8-10′ tall) element to put in our booth at the conference. The layout includes two 6′ counter-height tables, and two 4′ round tables, and somewhere in the middle, we want this tall thing – we thought a palm tree, anyway, if you have any suggestions, I would love it – two weeks out and still don’t have that “thing”!
Hi Eddie!
Sounds like things are going swimmingly for you all. No surprise!
This year I’m determined to dine al fresco, but until the pollen count dies down and I can poke my nose outside, I’d like to freshen up my table with a lovely yellow cloth like that shown in this post. I know you’re a big fan of buying cloth and making do. Would linen work? Or is a heavy cotton best?
Thanks!
