Jaithan and I are off to Atlanta today for SCAD Style, a special series of events on style and design at the Savannah College of Art & Design. The panel we're sitting on is called From Magazine to Monitor — The Rise of the Blog, moderated by Michelle Adams from Lonny. Others participating include Nick Olsen and Rita Konig, so that's quite an honor!
We've also been working with SCAD students to design a dazzling dinner for 25 at a gallery in Savannah on Friday evening. We're talking table linens custom-silk screened just for the event! If you're in or around Atlanta and Savannah this week, we'd love to see you!

"Rise of the blog" is just beginning Eddie, I was at a major conference recently and those stuffed shirt businessmen knew nothing of blogging...I cannot wait for the blogs to rise!

Just saw the photos of the SCAD table at Twitter. So dang inspirational. I have a skinny farm table and am vexxed about setting it sometimes...never thought about doing runners that way. Hope you post more photos.
SHAZZAMMM! and THANKS!

If you all do this talk again, there are a few things you should change from the Atlanta talk. It's not your fault; the talk was very poorly moderated and didn't address its audience properly.
1.You should realize that there are new regulations about blogging and payola, so all of that talk was really for naught.
2. Know that the best blogs are creating original content (like you all are), so the argument that magazines and blogs need each other to work in tandem so that "bloggers can scan pictures from magazines" is not accurate.
3. While Simon Upton may only be in print, there is gorgeous photography on the web, just look at The Satorialist, sfgirlbybay, the selby, et. al.
4. You are talking to art and design students, so you should gear the talk toward them and what blogging can do for their new careers in design, whether it be drawing-a-day, having an online portfolio, building fans, etc. Let Jaithon talk, as he was clearly the brilliant businessman who understood how blogs can be commercialized in a good way.
I blame most of the lack of focus in Atlanta on the moderator, who kept talking about ShopAD and Michael Bruno and didn't really understand the design blogosphere at all. Obviously the four of you had a lot of great knowledge to share, but because of the way the talk was moderated, you didn't get to share it.

Savannah is one of my favorite cities hands down. Was there last summer and could not get enough! SCAD has done some amazing things in partnership with the city and the community regarding restoration. Very impressive. But of course I also had to see SCAD's gorgeous equestrian center across the river.

LOVE the South. I second the recommendation for Elizabeth's on 37th. Just seeing the moss in the trees will make you feel you're in a totally different world. Safe travels - have fun!

Oh, how I wish I were off to college, I truly wanted to go to SCAD or RISD but I did love UC College of DAAP - Design Architecture and ART. (5 year program) I wonder, would you love to go there, next?
It is another fab school, campus just ranked most beautiful next to Princeton, Harvard.
While in Savannah, please enjoy all the Southern Hospitality! I know you will!
