After three weeks away, Jaithan and I decided to immerse ourselves in a little local culture this weekend. In tony Millbrook, N.Y., where the summer social season is well underway, that meant an afternoon of polo and Pinot Grigio at nearby Mashomack, a members-only polo and shooting club set on three and a half square miles of emerald fields in Pine Plains.
Rest assured: we were only guests attending the match, but that didn't mean we couldn't tailgate in style! Whether it's a picnic in the park or live music by the lake, summers are all about making the most of our time outdoors, so why not go the extra step and create something special? This rug I found at a thrift shop for 20 bucks; we use it for impromptu parties on the lawn all summer long. The copper icing tub is from Mauviel—remember the Chateau Chic event in the fall?—while the vintage table base and tole tray I found at Scott's in Atlanta last year. The tray was rusted in spots, so I cleaned it up with steel wool, gave it a coat of spray paint, and voilà! For a quick five or so minutes of packing, I'd say our spread fit the vibe nicely. A couple of clinks with our neighbors, and the match began! Here are a few scenes from around the field. My favorite was the Gatsbian couple in a sundress and seersucker suit, icing down their grill beside a 1950s convertible. How great is that? So here's to summer, everyone!Back shortly with a giveaway from our friends at The Well Appointed House you'll love!
