All this talk of digging for treasure has inspired yet another shopping expedition through one of my favorite flea markets—the D.C. Big Flea in Chantilly, Virginia—and I hope you'll join me!
Here's a sneak peak at all the fun we had the first time around.Michelle from My Notting Hill was there, and here's what she had to say: A trip with Eddie to the flea market is a lesson in how to see things with new eyes: vintage broaches become framed art; dowdy furniture becomes hip and unique; and that brocade dress is a now a fab pillow. I walked away with tips on what to look for, what to avoid and a wealth of information on how to clean, restore and care for my finds. Plus, I had an absolute blast! Meg from Pigtown Design came shopping with us, too! For months, I'd been wanting to join Eddie and Jaithan at the flea market, so when I heard they'd be at the D.C. Big Flea about 50 miles from me, I instantly made a reservation! I thought I knew my way around a flea market, but Eddie has a way of spotting a treasure that you'd otherwise never notice. Then he tells you what it is, how it was used and several ways to repurpose it for a new use. We learned what the good things were, which ones would increase their value, and which things to pass by without a second look. Eddie made the whole trip seem like a huge adventure and everyone had such a wonderful time! And finally, here's why two-time participant Anne Statland keeps coming back for more! For anyone interested in scouring flea markets, sign up with Eddie and Jaithan for a fun and informative adventure! I've thoroughly enjoyed the two flea markets I've gone to with them—one in D.C. and the other in New York and have even signed up again for the D.C. Big Flea in September! Eddie has a great eye for items that are well-worn but salvageable and generously shares those ideas with market goers. It's a lot of fun and great bargains can be found. When Jaithan puts out the word in your area of the country, run—don't walk—and sign up to join them for a great experience!
We'll be at the D.C. Big Flea on Saturday, September 18th at 11:00 am. Tickets are $50 per person. Space is limited, so email Jaithan (jaithan@eddieross.com) for reservations. Hope to see you in Chantilly, everyone!

This sounds like a not-to-be missed opportunity. I've been going to Big Flea markets since the beginning at the State Fairgrounds in Richmond ... there used to be so much wonderful stuff to be had at not-to-be-believed prices. Big Flea has gone Big Time, there are more dealers, more locations, and stuff costs more. It's still WELL worth the trip.
I will be at my booth, selling heirloom roses, at the plant sale at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond on Sept 17 and 18. I'll have to wait till the 19th to run to Chantilly to see if you left any good stuff for us late-comers.
Have fun.

I adore those big floor pillows. I still have a stash of silk scarves I picked up on my shopping trip with you guys at the Rose Bowl, and I need to get them to a seamstress so I can start enjoying my own boho-chic pillows.

Hi Eddie and Jaithan!
Can you tell me if you will have a spin around any of the Fleas in NJ?
Thanks for the inspiration, as always.

I just found your site (referenced on Southern Comfort blog) and I just have to say, you guys are amazing. I so wish I lived in the DC area (grew up there) so I could go flea'ing with you. I think you need to come out to the California SF Bay area for a flea market weekend. If you're ever setting something up on the west coast I sure hope I'll be able to make it. I love your blog.

OH MY GOD! I must have those white chairs. They are incrediable. Dying to know how much they were in the store? Don't tell me they were a steal or I'll have to commit myself. When are you coming back to LA for the flea markets - I would love to spend the day shopping with you guys! Come to Long Beach or Pasadena!

After reading about your upcoming shopping trip, I also just had to show you these auction pictures and once you get past the first icky couple of pictures of flags, you'll see things that will make you want to catch the first flight into Denver this weekend. Besides the fab furniture, check out the other finds like the wishing well, small weather vane complete with rooster on the top and oh, oh, just too many things to list. Here's the site: http://denvergypsyboys.com. Just click on the "Next Sale Page" to get to the pictures.

When you're in the area you should definitely check us out at Chartreuse and Co. - it's a big old barn sale!
