It's right about now—the holidays are over and now it's just, well, cold—that I get the sudden, insatiable urge to redecorate. Mix things up. Hit the flea market. Buy a new lamp, a new chair. Maybe even that dresser. Love the lines, hate the finish. Lacquer's hot right now, so why not paint it a glossy black? Or blue? Or something even more juicy and delicious like pomegranate red?
Now swap out the hardware for newer, more modern pulls in shiny brass. It's a decorator look that's all DIY, courtesy of Lowe's—wth a little help from me!
New Year, New You, it's called—five inspiring ideas we dreamt up to enliven your decor that won't send the AMEX into overdrive. So now that your dresser looks a whole lot more decorator, let there be light!
Speaking of, with such a stylish new set up, you want to see it! You want to celebrate the genius that did it! Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the smartest of them all?
Why you are, you think to yourself, pouring detergent, replacing the cap, admiring your work. Those bracketless shelves you scored at Lowe's turned that laundry room into laundry love! Finally, a place for everything and everything in its place. Oh, and that industrial chic, faux metal liner that even fooled your husband? That was you too!
Now if only you could organize these cabinets, you tell yourself, struggling to find the good skillet. Why can't it just be easier? More organized? That pot rack you've been eyeing is just soooo expensive. Outside, you hear the throaty rumble of the school bus idle and stop. The front gate swings open. And then it hits you.
Huge thanks to Colleen, Jaclyn, Abby and everyone over at Lowe's for the opportunity to put our spin on a New Year, New You! And finally, the part you've been waiting for...
For a chance to win $100 from Lowe's to kick-start some of your New Year's projects, give them a thumb's up on Facebook, then come back here and leave us a comment by Thursday. We'll announce the winner on Monday. Good luck, everyone!

And my bathroom will be getting an organization intervention as well... complete with new jewelry storage courtesy of my new brass hooks from a local thrift store and some creative storage solutions. LOVE making what I have even better with Lowe's help!!

I have been really good actually since 1/1/11 about getting projects marked off the list, but it seems there's always a new one to add onto the list! Living in a rental is somewhat limiting, but also forces me to be more creative, think even more outside the box! So now I have a few furniture, paint stripping, refurb projects on the list, as well as art framing and hanging that will require custom made frames and a laser level...I have already spent the prize in my head! :)
